As is with turning, milling is half our business. Our facilities list includes 15 Fadal milling centers which we use to handle most all of our vertical milling. We also have 2 Haas horizontal milling centers which cut down tremendously on our setup time and holding issues we may have with the vertical milling. Without the use of these horizontal machines, some of the work we currently do would need extensive fixturing to get the same results. Again, our investment into these machines broadens our spectrum of work and saves our customers money.
Our milling centers include a variety of manual mills which are used as secondary operations and fixture making. Every successful shop has secondary milling and turning centers just for these types of tasks.
As is with milling, turning is half our business. Our facilities list includes 5 Hardinge Twin Turn Lathes which are capable of doing milling as well as turning. This saves us many hours of milling setups, as well as saving our customers money.
Our turning centers include a variety of manual lathes which are used as secondary operations, fixture making, and turning of larger diameters that are out of reach for our more sophisticated equipment. Every successful shop has secondary turning centers just for these types of turning tasks.
Many of our customers don't stop at milling and turning requirements. Many of our milling and turning jobs require additional services such as assembly, or pre-assembly.
Assembly of parts may include adding pins, springs, or any type of hardware to the finished machined components which facilitates our customer's own assembly process. Our customers don't always have the tools or the know-how to assemble certain types of components and put their focus on assembly of the final instruments rather the the individual components. Many times we send these assembled components to our customers as kits.
Pre-assembled, or mated parts are critical for those customers who spend many hours trying to 'Fit' parts together for the best possible function. We not only offer, but recommend this to all of our customers, because we can mate our machined components together for the best possible fit, making adjustments along the way satisfying gap clearances required by our customers. Our machines can adjust .0001 increments and can maintain such a measurement for hours in the environmentally controlled shop floor.
Our customers expect that all of their milling and turning components are delivered with the required surface plating, but some of our customers require services such as grinding, laser scribing, engraving, and painting. We have many resources available to us which allow us to complete these requirements, including the addition of our new Trumpf Laser TruMark 5000 which produces sharp markings on all materials we machine.
Any of our milling and turning jobs that require these additional services may require holding fixtures for these services which we will make at no charge.
